Being in the industry for now EIGHT years, I have experience in all things weddings, family sessions, newborns and even births! I have dabbled into many different forms of photography and there are photos to show it. But what the photos don’t necessarily tell you, is a little bit about me!

Who is the photographer behind In the Light Photos?! Hopefully, you’ll get to know a little more about me after reading this blog. A goal of mine is always to learn as much as I can about each couple, each family, each group that I am photographing. I truly believe that taking the time to learn a lot about you (and you learn a lot about me) is the key to capturing intentional and personal photos. I hope to have a friendship with clients that feels personal enough to embrace comfortability during shoots. So that in the most important moments for you- like your wedding, your engagement sesh, or other major life events like delivering your first child, or celebrating a family member’s birthday, you feel comfortable enough for me to be present and document it all.

Here are five things (with lots of details) that you should know about me:

1. I am married to my hubby, Tanner.

My sweet husband, Tanner, and I have been married for six years. We grew up in the same hometown, but started dating after high school. We went to college at different places, doing long distance while Tanner was in basic training. After a few years of dating, we planned a wedding quickly, following some deployment news from the Army. In just six short weeks, we had an intimate ceremony with our closest friends and family surrounding us and it was the most perfect day! If you need ideas on “eloping” where you live, I’m your girl ;). Now, we love spending free time with our kiddos, or sneaking out for a date night when we can. Finding moments to have fun together, travel and show our kids new places, is some of our favorite things.

2. We have TWO kiddos!

We welcomed our first child, Indie, into the world in 2019. She is full of joy and loves to love on people! Typically her first meeting with someone includes a drawing she brought to hand out, or her purse full of makeup that she loves to offer up to whoever is willing. She is spunky and girly. Our second kiddo, Archer, joined us in 2022 and filled our family in ways we didn’t know we needed. He is full of snuggles and boy energy, and he makes me laugh daily. He is fearless and an extrovert, knowing no strangers. My fam is the absolute light of my life and you will surely hear lots more about them.

3. We live on the Eastside of Ohio, but are major Wildcats fans.

I grew up in a small town in Kentucky that will always feel like home to me. I graduated from the University of Kentucky, with a major in Family Sciences and a minor in photography. It was at that school, that I deepened a love for photography by learning all that I could about it, and starting my business while I lived there.

4. When I’m not taking photos, I am… 

My kids take up a lot of my time these days, BUT- if I do have some time to myself, you can find me at the gym, snuggling on the couch with a good show, or outside with a good book! I also LOVE getting to serve on the worship team at my church. Music has always been a huge part of my life. If I have some time alone to sneak away, I am probably grabbing a coffee from a local shop and heading to Target to walk around (usually inviting my sisters to tag along as well ).

5. My bucket list travel spots.. 

My family loves to travel (especially to the beach). I am always down to travel for weddings and shoots! I’d love to travel to Hawaii for a wedding in the near future. We hope to visit Ireland, Spain and some US states like Montana and Colorado as a family soon!  

MY joy is to capture your moments. Whether they’re your greatest, or your hardest, you deserve to have a photographer who cares about the details. That can experience your moments alongside of you, and give you something beautiful and permanent that you will always have to look back on.
